Lots of bread to give out.

Revised:  24 July 2021

We are happy to inform you that the Oxford Ecumenical Food Shelf plans to reopen inside the Oxford Community Center on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Our volunteers have been working hard to restock our shelves—and expand the shopping area to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all.

The end result is that once again you will be able to choose the foods that are most appropriate for your own family.

Beginning on the 12th, our hours will be 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. For your safety—since we not quite through the pandemic—all volunteers and all clients, including children over the age of two, will be required to wear masks when entering the Food Shelf.

Another change that you need to be aware of: Also beginning on the 12th, you will be allowed two shopping trips each month. While this is a change from what we’ve been doing (allowing four or five shopping trips each month depending on the number of weeks in the month), allowing two trips each month gives you more opportunity to shop than you had before the pandemic (when you were limited to one shopping trip each month). For now, we will not be assigning you weeks to shop. You may come when it’s convenient for your family.

We appreciate your patience as we transition back to being a choice food pantry, a model which has benefits for all of us. While the weeks ahead may bring additional changes, we hope that you recognize that each will be made with the health and safety of your family in mind.

Our "DRIVE THRU" food pick up will continue to open every Thursday afternoon from 4 PM to 6 PM until August 12.  The "drive thru" food pick-up is in front of the Oxford Community Center located at 4 Maple Road in Oxford MA.

During the pandemic we are providing a pre-boxed assortment of groceries including cold cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta, mac & cheese, snacks, frozen meats, cheese, eggs, toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, soap and other misc items. We also provide a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables when they are available.

Any Oxford family in need of grocery assistance can come for help.

We welcome all residents of Oxford.

HOURS OF OPERATION -
We distribute groceries from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM every Thursday in front of the Oxford Community Center.
Please note we are closed on holidays.

DUE TO THE CURRENT PANDEMIC WE ARE OPERATING AS A DRIVE-THRU FOOD PICKUP.

The drive-thru "pre-boxed" food pickup has been working very smoothly. Thank you for letting us help during this crisis.

Any Oxford family can come for food.  We are making up an average of 80 to 90 boxes each week.  Boxes contain canned goods, mac and cheese, canned pasta, dry pasta, pasta sauce, baking goods, cereal, boxed shelf stable milk (really good), snacks, eggs, butter or margarine, cheese, and frozen meats.  We also now have fresh produce provided by the Worcester County Food Bank and the Oxford First Congregational Church "Share Garden".

Until the crisis situation changes, we will continue to have the “drive-thru” food pick-up for Oxford residents every Thursday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, in front of the Oxford Community Center located at 4 Maple Road in Oxford MA.

Any Oxford family can come for food.

Families can come for food every week.

There is no need to call before you come.  We will have food ready for you.

UPON ARRIVING: Follow the posted arrows to drive up to the front door of the Community Center.  Please open your trunk / rear hatch. Families will be asked their name, address and family size (how many members).  The amount of food we receive from the Worcester County Food Bank is determined by how many families and individuals we serve.

One additional note: DUE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING SAFETY REQUIREMENTS, VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PUT FOOD ONTO THE BACK SEAT OF ANY VEHICLE.

For more information, or as the situation changes, please continue to follow our website at www.oxfordfoodshelf.org , or on Facebook at the “Oxford Residents Forum”, and also on Facebook at “Oxford Ecumenical Council and Food Shelf”.
